  1. The only autocratic "democracies" in Central/South America are Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador and Argentina. All run by leftists. Ha. This cabron is such a hack. Anyways I'm glad it's only 5 games. Hopefully in 10 days this will all be behind us.
  2. I knew I had Alexei on my fantasy team for a reason. It ain't apparently for his offense.
  3. The ESPN poll is interesting: http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/post/_/id/7795181/ozzie-guillen-penalty By the results it seems most fans think its right suspension or too harsh. That includes Florida. Leads me to believe the media has made this bigger than it is.
  4. aren't real ... made up ... fudging history. The only one around here fudging anything is you. Funny how you don't respond to the point even given a 50% cut in the numbers. How about we agree that Fidel only killed a few hundred and Mao a few thousand? Leftists like you defend leftists like Castro, etc. as a reflex. As you have amply demonstrated. Damn. You're like these internet trolls that are always in the comment sections of articles. Usually I don't see your type in forums.
  5. I still am a bit skeptical that he really had translational problems but I will agree the guy is better at speaking in Spanish than English by a goood measure.
  6. Now he's blaming the fact that he was thinking one thing in Spanish and said another in English. Give me a break. He's gone back and forth between English and Spanish like nothing in this press conference itself. That's a lame ass excuse. There's no way you can misinterpret anything for "I love Fidel Castro." If that's what you believe, then nothing he can say will fix it, so what do you want to hear? "I said I love Fidel Castro but I was just kidding"? I think subscription to Time is needed for full article so I haven't read the entire thing, but LeBatard was talking about it yesterday and indicated that he corrected himself as soon as he said love. Ozzie was trying to sound liek a cool mother f***er, like people who say they love Tony Montana and stuff like that. It's stupid but whatever, he's kind of a stupid dude. And while i do think he probably meant to say "I love the guy" I will say that the word "love" is a pretty nuanced word between languages. The way you say it in english can be rendered a few different ways in Spanish and vice versa. I don't know what was in his head, but it is a pretty nuanced word to translate.
  7. I don't make excuses for Castro Really? Then why did you say: Castro did not kill two million and Mao didn't actually kill 70 million Castro has killed at least 2 million (that's a mere 38,000 or so per year over 53 years) and Mao thought nothing of killing millions, but nobody knows the real total, 70 million may be on the low side. Stalin's 30 million was probably low, also. But, what is it with you defenders of mass-killing totalitarians? Would it be OK if Castro had only killed 1 million or Mao 35 million or Stalin 15 million? At least Ozzie has the excuse that he runs his mouth before engaging his brain. Sigh, brother you don't get it. Those numbers aren't real. They're not history they're made up. There's no need to do that anyways. It's not good to make things up even to make a point when it comes to fudging history. I don't know if you're educated or from the US, so it's hard for me to say why you are so adamant about these made up figures. Just know, you don't need to do it. Democracy and human rights have enough reasons to be fought for on their own merit.
  8. MLB looking into the situation. May face further punishment. Marlins suspended manager Ozzie Guillen for five games for his recent comments regarding Fidel Castro. The Marlins levied the suspension after Guillen recently told Time magazine he loves Castro and respects the Cuban dictator for staying in power so long. Guillen has already apologized for his comments, but will do so again at a press conference in Miami on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. ET. MLB is reportedly looking into the situation, but it's not known if Guillen will face further punishment. Nah no way Bud Selig actually touches this. That would very unprecedented and ridiculous.
  9. You do know Castro did not kill two million, right? Two million over 50 years is probably a conservative estimate. Why do you continually make excuses for Castro? 2 million is just absurd and comparing a Latin American dictator (and on the brutal dictator scale, he falls below some of some nastry US supported ones in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Chile) to the planned genocide of millions upon millions is silly. And to diminish the lives of the people who were obviously taken due to Castro's reign, but even the Miami Herald gives an estimate of 100k that the revolution has killed in it's lifetime, which considering the source is probably very high. Perfectly stated.
  10. Ozzie is wearing a bulletproof vest. They can shoot but he aint dying.
  11. I don't make excuses for Castro, but I do not like distorting history. It is not a conservative estimate and no historical source of any reputation would make a claim like that. Why would you even need to go there? Latin America has a horrid history of dictators and theres reason enough to call for democracy without resorting to lies.
  12. That's not going to be enough for some people. Some people want him fired to prove a point and to maintain their political hold over the subject of Cuba. These people want the embargo to remain and any budging from their narrative will not be allowed by them. It is politics in baseball and it doesn't belong.
  13. I still remember when I was living in Cuba that Castro ordered the sinking of the tug boat "13 de Mayo" which was filled with around 100 Cubans trying to flee the island. The Cuban coastguard sunk it and left the people to drown. They came back 3 hours later and picked a handful of survivors. Dozens of women and children died. Cuban television did not cover the event, so people found out their relatives were dead by listening to foreign news sources. That is just one example of the countless crimes this regime is responsible for. Pretty awful. I do not advocate people be like the fools who parade around in Che shirts and Fidel hats. But do realize why the sinking of 13 de Mayo or any other number of Castro crimes or Bautista crimes or Somozo crimes or Videla crimes are not actually anywhere the systematic and racist slaughter in Nazi Germany. Equivocation is a terrible thing. It is an insult to the victims of the Holocaust Jewish or otherwise to pretend the Latin American dictator crimes are anywhere near the same.
  14. You do know Castro did not kill two million, right? Kind of like how Bush didn't kill 500,000 thousand or whatever nonsense people spew, or how Mao didn't actually kill 70 million or whatever. None of that is true. Hitler actually made policies that were to execute 14 million non-combatant innocents over the course of decade. It's not even close.
  15. I wish media things like TIME wouldn't go around baiting loudmouths like Ozzie like this. What on earth was TIME doing asking him about whether Fidel was a cool guy or not? Ozzie officially needs a PR man who won't let him go do every interview that's suggested to him...
