March 12, 200422 yr I have the time, but need ideas. What kind of feature would you like me to add to the Marlins Ballpark Newspage?
March 13, 200422 yr I suggest having a section on the efforts of other MLB teams to build ballparks. Two that come into mind right now are the Twins and whoever moves the Expos. If you need any info on those I can try to get info on them. Also, a poll asking people to prefer a pitcher-friendly park or a hitter-friendly park.
March 13, 200422 yr -Im not from South Florida so I know absolutley nothing about the area. I like hearing people from the area debate about such things as having the stadium in Broward or where it should be built. Perhaps a point-counterpoint scenario with things like maps and demographics. Just an idea. -perhaps a history of getting a ballpark in Florida along with how other teams got their parks , when they did, and what that means to the Marlins. Again, just an idea. -Id also like 300 million dollars for the construction of a new Marlins ballpark. Can you accomplish this? j.k http://smilies.jeeptalk.org

The four options on the website's poll are... Near the OB Downtown Broward Palm Beach I will try to find a map of SoFla and post it.
March 13, 200422 yr Author OK. The new poll and map are up. During the debates on this website, we argued the two dade sites. I will post a link to those excellent arguements by Alkazoid.

March 13, 200422 yr Author I prefer the OB site because Little Havana and the Marlins have always gone together, but I want the park so any site is fine.
March 13, 200422 yr Here a question that has me baffle. The Marlins say the stadium will cost roughly 325 millions dollars but no plans for the infracstructure? Cape perhaps you can answer the question.
March 13, 200422 yr Infrastructure is the responsibility of Dade County. Alright so in reality the stadium cost will be hell of alot more than the 325 million dollars.I just hate how not all the facts are made available.I really don't like the idea using public money for private enterprise but I'll make an exemption.I hope the deal goes through and hopefully this is the right ownership group to build it for.I don't want to see same situation that happen at Pittsburg.

The county always handles infrastructure. The roads are public, the water lines are public, the sidewalks are public.

Still how about design for the stadium. Why do I have feeling the stadium with retractable roof is no where near 325 millions dollars(Just look back at other stadiums price tags). The price tag seem off by at least another 100 mil.You also have factor in: if there is a need to buy any land for parking garages and in downtown the land will have to be purchase.

I don't know. This ballpark won't have air conditioning like the other new roffed ballparks, and it won't have many expensive lights, scoreboards, video screens and gizmos like the others. I understand the need for a roof, but it doesn't rain that much down there and they could save more money that way. They have made it work with $325 million somehow. Maybe labor is lower since we don't have so much legal labor red tape in Florida.
