KJC
Twins: Helling has broken leg by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Sunday, March 21, 2004 News Twins right-hander Rick Helling will be sidelined for more than a month because of a broken right leg. Helling sustained the injury when he was hit by a line drive off the bat of Shawn Wooten during Saturday's game against the Phillies. At first, it was just thought to be a bruise, but X-rays revealed a fractured fibula. Helling will be wearing a walking boot for about four weeks, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and his timetable for return is unclear. Views With Helling out of action until at least May, the Twins will have to re-assess their fifth starter situation. The top candidate is Grant Balfour because top starting pitcher prospect, J.D. Durbin, was sent to Double-A New Britain on Friday.
