April 14, 200422 yr http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n...2103EDT0373.DTL Pitcher Livan Hernandez agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Montreal Expos, general manager Omar Minaya said Tuesday. Hernandez is in the final year of his current deal. The extension runs through 2007. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In 2003, his first year with the Expos, Hernandez had the best year of his career. He went 15-10 with a 3.20 ERA in 33 starts. He led the team in wins, ERA, innings (233.1) and complete games (eight). Hernandez was acquired by the Expos from San Francisco with infielder/catcher Edwards Guzman and cash in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jim Brower and a player to be named. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 3.46 ERA in two starts this season. I would guess they'd sign it when the Expos go home in July.

April 14, 200422 yr Regardless, the guy has signed his life away to mediorcrity in the form of his team
April 14, 200422 yr well the terms of the deal were not released. so my guess would be it has an opt-out option and all the other extras that would benefit him
April 14, 200422 yr I guess he gets a better deal for himself than if he were to hit F.A. with guys like Pedro available...
