May 7, 200422 yr I'm not going to say it's a must win or anything obviously, it's far too early for that. But the Marlins really need to get back on track this weekend. Since starting 8-1, they've gone 8-11. Yes it's been against some good teams but being the defending WS Champs we can't rely on just beating up on the Expos and Phills all season. I'm happy with the way Josh and Brad have been pitching, but Willis and Oliver worry me. I think Pavano will be okay, but 2 of his last 3 starts have been poor. We can't get by with 2 good starters, 2 bad starters, and 1 mediocre one. We're in first place which is fantastic. But I want them to stay there! Need to win this series.
May 7, 200422 yr I agree with you 100% ... I'd really love to see my boys sweep them padres Peavy is pitching today and he has been pitching lights out. 35 innings 2 wins 31 strikeouts 1.80 ERA
May 7, 200422 yr Yeah I really want this series because of the fact that everyone is calling the Padres, this years Marlins. So we should prove that we arent ready to give up that title yet.
May 8, 200422 yr Pavano was awesome tonight... As for his season so far, he's had some problems in later innings against Philly and SF, but he has been quite excellent otherwise. The only starter that has been brilliant all year has been Penny. Josh and Dontrelle have also had their lumps. Pavs is an interesting pitcher;once he gets in a groove he's a stud.
