farmer_fran
from albuquerquebaseball.com Topes Supply Extra Fireworks In Win Over 51s May 21, 2004 - Albuquerque followed up Thursday night?s 21 hit performance with 17 more on Friday night in a 10-4 win over Las Vegas on Fireworks Night in front of 10,201 fans. The Isotopes started early as Wilson Valdez tripled to lead off the bottom of the first. One out later, Jason Wood tripled to score Valdez. Wood then scored on a Brian Banks sac-fly for a 2-0 lead. The lead was 3-1until the fifth, when Rick Bell and pitcher Edwin Jackson hit back-to-back homers off starter Matt Blank to tie the game at three. Albuquerque responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead. Albuquerque blew the game open in the seventh with four runs and a 10-3 lead. Matt Padgett hit the first pinch-hit homer in team history, a three-run shot to right field. Also, Valdez followed Thursday night?s four-hit performance with four more and Derek Wathan added three hits, one night after setting a franchise record with five. Blank (2-0) earned the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in five plus innings. Wilson Valdez is now hitting .313. I would love to see this guy in the big leagues, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Man, they get some good crowds in Albuquerque, 10,200 for a AAA game. Initial tests show the results normal, however Hutchinson is expected to fly to Miami to rehab and return to Carolina when recovered. This may have contributed to his recent struggles.
