My opinion on the day after tomorrow

Featured Replies

I just saw this flick the other day and wanted to know what you guys think. To me the special effects were great and the thrill in the early going was also great. however, once the ice storms came along, first of all the science was suspect and the movie seemed to drag. The part when they went on the boat with the wolves was kinda corny. Another bad thing was the movie was way too preachy, it was telling us well everyone's dying but if we had taken care of our environment more this wouldnt be happening. If i wanted to learn a lesson id watch family matters from my house and save 8 bucks. I hated the irony at the mexican border, very poor taste. Finally, the ending was pretty good, because they found a ray of hope after all the disaster, even though it was overall a gloomy movie.

I posted this somewhere before but can't find it... So here it comes again....

The 120 minutes of the movie that werent special effects (i.e. human interest story) was pretty much crap. I still have a problem beleiving that three dudes walked from Philly to NYC in the worst blizzard ever, with 30 feet of snow on the ground, in -120 degree temps in a day.

Even the effects were a little bit corny. Like you said, the wolves on the ship were a little over the top. Speaking of the ship, it passed by the main characters of the movie while they were holed up in the main NYC library.

Now, for any of you who've been to NYC, you'll know that "Between the Lions" (ie the NYC main library) is somewhere in the 40's and 5th or 7th Ave (can't remember for sure) Anyway, point is that the library is smack in the middle of MidTown, so the ship would of had to make a few turns at intersections here and there to get all the way up there to midtown. Crap.

Anyway, the story was rife with inconsistencies, and I could go on for pages with them. The only real motivation for me to go to these types of movies is because the story is remotely plausible, which this was not.
