All Star Selections

Reed is out with an injury so he won't play, and Stokes has been out for a while now, but I'm not sure if he was ever put on the DL so I'm not quite sure what's going on there.

The selections were made by, "a vote of Southern League field managers, radio broadcasters, and print media."

 

I think the honor is more important than the game itself. They gave the selections to the players with the best 1st halves w/o worrying about the actual all star game.

 

But it is always fun to see Willingham crush!

Jason Stokes is on the DL (placed there on Sunday, 6/27). He was replaced by Mike Brown on the Mudcats roster.

Today:Carolina lost 5-4

Bill Murphy pitched but was not in the decision. He went 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 7.

Josh Wilson went 0-4 with 1 walk and 2 k's.

Josh Willingham went 2-5 with 1 double, 1 rbi, 1 walk, and 2 k's.

I must have missed that. I know he was out for a while but hadn't been put on the Dl.

Stokes injured his wrist about two weeks ago (6/13/4 - left the game after hitting a double), but they didn't put him on the DL imminently, they waited till he saw a hand specialist in South Florida first.

 

An article today (6/29/4) says he is expected to be out 1-2 more weeks.

In my mind, any wrist problems at this point are a bad sign. This is the third year in a row he has had wrist problems. At some point you have to start calling it chronic.
