Trade Beckett

Featured Replies

That's right. The sky is falling, it is total pandemonium. This guy, as great as he is, just cant stay healthy. He may get it together someday, but why not bank on his potential? We will have more money left to re-sign other players and even add someone via FA. Also, we could get a huge load of talent for him that could help us both immediately and later on.

"We've got to figure out what we did last year," Lowell said, noting Beckett didn't have a blister problem last season. "I can't believe his finger is any different than any other person in the Major Leagues. We have to find a specialist to stop this. We need to find a blister specialist. This is absolutely ridiculous."

Couldnt agree more, Mikey. I love Beckett, but this is ridiculous...

Beckett can do 2 of 3 things. I have blister/skin problems and this is how I handle it.

1) Stop Biting Your Nails and get them done professionally.

2) Type 15 minutes a day on an old typewriter with hard metal keys.

3) Carry reams of paper with the fingers on the edges of the paper.

worse thing you can do, it destroys the skin's ability to heal because of all the bacteria you put in from that and then try to rub off with water and soap.

4) start pissing on your hands

Isn't that what Jorge Posada does?

Seems to work for him... even though he's a catcher...

It is clear that you dont know the Clement situation that well. If you did, you wouldnt have made such an outlandish generalization. But to cut that debate short and give you the short story, we got Dontrelle, thank you very much.

You can have any player you want for Beckett. You want Sean Burnett and Craig Wilson? Give Beckett to the Pirates (if they had the money) - and that would only be the beginning of the negotiations. There are a lot of teams out there that would KILL for Beckett - all you would have to do is name your price.

yet teams will wonder if its worth the risk when we are trying to unload him for some reason. why would anyone want our trash? not that beckett is trash but who would want an injury prone pitcher.

I am sure Beckett does bite his finger. I am sure it is something very simple that is alluding the training staff/medical specialists. But whatever it is, this situation is pretty comical.

He can try playing a string instrument, try picking up sewing, or try gardening as well.

Ego inflated Beckett and gardening... I'd pay to see that...

Are you serious?

I have problems with blisters, cracked skin, and peeling skin.

More things you can do is use powdered soap instead of bars or liquid soap, don't rub too hard when you wash your hands, maintain you hands in the soap/water mixture for 30 seconds, dry with a soft cloth towel and not paper towels.

How about an old martial arts treatment - like mashing your fingers into a barrel of rice each day to toughen up your fingers...

Trade him...trade him! :mischief

He could also avoid touching wood (dries your hands and can scrape skin) and try the rice water things.

Playing in hot sand also helps.

In terms of diet, avoid vinegar and oils...head for 10 cups of water a day and try to eat lots of fruits and veggies.
