Time running out in Ameriquest 2004 All-Star Final Man voting

NEW YORK -- Voting continues in the Ameriquest 2004 All-Star Final Vote Program on MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, ESPN.com and MSN.com with over 5 million votes cast during the first two days.

The program gives baseball fans around the world the opportunity to select the final position player on each All-Star team. Balloting continues for 26 hours and ends tomorrow, Wednesday, July 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The final players on each team will be announced at 9 p.m. ET.

The voting remains very close in both leagues.

In the American League, Hideki Matsui of the Yankees leads Frank Thomas of the White Sox and his teammate, Paul Konerko, who are virtually tied for second, followed by Lew Ford of the Twins and Travis Hafner of the Indians.

In the National League Aramis Ramirez of the Cubs and Bobby Abreu of the Phillies are in a virtual dead heat for first, followed by Jason Kendall of the Pirates, Steve Finley of the Diamondbacks and Juan Pierre of the Marlins.
