Posted July 11, 200420 yr when/if the new stadium is a go, anyone think there will be a teal monster? hopefully.....
July 11, 200420 yr I hope so. Maybe. You see a lot of built into the outfield fence features in new ballparks.
July 11, 200420 yr You mean that earlier street diagram? It was basically the same design as Pro Player.
July 11, 200420 yr No, I meant this. http://images.snapfish.com/33%3A%3B9%3B9923232%7Ffp3%3B%3Dot%3E2334%3D426%3D498%3DXROQDF%3E2323572%3C5%3B4%3A7ot1lsi http://images.snapfish.com/33%3A%3C7%3A8323232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2334%3D426%3D498%3DXROQDF%3E232357978%3C95%3Aot1lsi http://images.snapfish.com/33%3A%3C7%3A8323232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2334%3D426%3D498%3DXROQDF%3E23235797934%3C3ot1lsi

July 11, 200420 yr Think Philly's or Atlanta's RF wall as the LF wall in the new Fish Tank. Houston's LF wall is the most similar. http://www.travelswithchicken.com/Interesting%20Places/Baseball/Baseball%20-%20Astro's%20(Minute%20Maid%20Park).JPG
July 11, 200420 yr I don't think the Marlins plans for the stadium have been announced. 2 of the 3 diagrams you showed are from the city's idea of adjoined stadiums. The other looks like most ballparks.

July 12, 200420 yr The LF wall must be high because there will not be enough room to make it even with the RF wall like at Pro Player. Look at the diagrams, LF will be shorter than RF. That means a taller wall must be in LF than in RF.

July 13, 200420 yr May I remind everyone for just a moment, the County and City must come up with the design alongside the Marlins. They are working together already and what you have seen is close to what you will get. The space is limited and costly. The Marlins will oversee construction, but the aquarium and community center will still be there as will other elements. Check the memo issued by the city and county manager.
July 13, 200420 yr Let me add that the Marlins have not even begun to get the approvals (nor even apply for them yet) from the local governments and state to even begin construction. Unlike what David Samson says, construction will NOT begin in January, 2005! Sure, they may have a "ground breaking ceremony" in January, but the earliest timetable for construction on the stadium to begin looks like July to August of 2005, and that is if they get a certain approval from the Department of Community Affairs regarding the DRI on the site. I have a very credible source on this information. He tells me that the Marlins are clueless as to how to develop this property. The City hasn't even begun the condemnation proceedings for the properties to the southwest of the OB. The process has only begun and is a long ways from being a done deal.

Biggest problem is getting all those properties condemned and getting this show on the road already.
July 14, 200420 yr The Marlins haven't finalized hiring legal counsel for the land use/development portion of the project. It's July and they're still behind the eightball on this! After the hiring of legal counsel, they need to begin the development approval process and the City needs to begin the eminent domain proceedings. There is still a ways to go with this!
July 14, 200420 yr Question: why at PPS doesn't the teal monster extend from the LF foul pole to where it is?
July 14, 200420 yr Question: why at PPS doesn't the teal monster extend from the LF foul pole to where it is? 457279[/snapback] Too difficult to take down because there would be no wiggle room for the workers.
