CB Rolle arrested

University of Miami football player Antrel Rolle is out on bond following an arrest this weekend on charges including battery on a law enforcement officer.

The Hurricanes' star cornerback -- whose father is Homestead police chief Al Rolle -- was arrested by City of Miami police Sunday, according to Miami-Dade Circuit Court records.

Rolle, 22, was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct and breach of the peace, and resisting an officer without violence, both misdemeanors.

Rolle also was charged with felony battery on a law enforcement officer.

Details of the arrest were not available late Monday, a Miami police department spokeswoman said.

Reached at his Coral Way home Monday night, Rolle declined to talk about the charges.

''I really don't want to talk about it,'' he said. He was released on a $6,500 personal surety bond. A hearing is set for Aug. 2.

Rolle, a graduate of Homestead's South Dade High, came back to the Hurricanes for his senior season after deciding against joining the 2004 NFL draft in January.

Rolle, a two-time All-Big East defensive back, was a third-team AP All-American last year after making two interceptions.

Rolle, a preseason All-American by Athlon's and All-ACC by Street & Smith's, could be UM's top draft pick next spring.

Herald sports writer George Richards contributed to this report.

Another one

Miami will give him a slap on the wrist...he won't miss a game.

Canes off the field problems amaze me.

The Judge will rule they would put him on probation, like they did with Willy "I want lobsters" Williams. :confused

Discipline is a joke these days.

When you recruit a bunch of lawless thugs like Miami's football program does, this is simply bound to happen.

I thought Butch Davis did an amazing job of cleaning up that program. Let's hope that they don't fall into this cycle again.

I know man, I know.

All he did was attack a police officer, who cares! If he was a gator nothing would have happened to him.

The Law should not get in the way of football and if stupid law abiding police officers can't figure that out than screw them.
