Alright. I really don't care if you people agree with me or not but I've had it with Jack. He is driving me crazy!! I don't care if he led the 2003 team to the World Series, I could care less! I don't want him managing my team with the decisions I've seen him make all year. Now when he IS right, it's just plain luck. I don't want a power hitter bunting in the 9th, I don't want to change pitchers for a match up when his numbers against the player are ignored, I don't want to take out Mikey to get a faster runner, I don't want to TRY and steal a base in the 9th, I don't want to take out a pitcher pitching a great game in the 5th or 6th inning to get a run in a one run ballgame and I don't want a guy who's in a slump and hurt batting with 2 outs in the 9th and the tying runs on base! What is wrong with letting Luis hit, get on base and then have LoDuca try and scrore the Winning or tying run? The Cab is up!! There was no need to put Mikey in! That's just saying that he doesn't care whether we win the game or not. He said in the paper this morning that "he gives up". I don't want that attitude managing my team! I want Jack gone. He's a great guy, he's funny and he loves the team. He's just making some really bad decisions in my eyes.

I BELIEVE in this Marlins team! Yes, sometimes they have problems scoring runs and I don't understand why and that is NOT Jack's fault. But, he also contributes very much to certain things. I'm not complaining about my team or their owners... just their manager who has said the deadly words of "I give up".

I've been Jack's biggest critic all year, criticizing his use of relief pitchers (Wayne, Perisho), playing time for bench players (Lenny), same sh*t different day lineup (misuse of your on-base leader), and in general asking miracles from rookies and newly acquired players

"Now when he IS right, it's just plain luck."

No doubt.

"I don't want a power hitter bunting in the 9th"

Miggy ranks high among NL sluggers in GIDPs, and Lowell hits a lot of groundballs, so it might be for the best. In some situations you don't want to take the bat out of a slugger's hands, but in many cases what you want is a contct hitter that you can hit and run with and give you a deep fly for the sacrifice if needed. In that situation Castillo, LoDuca and Conine.

"I don't want to change pitchers for a match up when his numbers against the player are ignored"

Only time this happened recently was Perisho vs. Grieve. Do you really think Grieve remembers how some no-name lefty specialist called up in September pitched 3 to 4 years ago? Let it go.

"I don't want to take out Mikey to get a faster runner"

Exactly. We don't steal and rarely run on outfield arms, so what's the point?

"I don't want to TRY and steal a base in the 9th"

Eh, I'd like if we stole more in innings 1-8.

"I don't want to take out a pitcher pitching a great game in the 5th or 6th inning to get a run in a one run ballgame"

Damn right. We win by pitching, but think for the most part Jack has done a good job on this. Very rarely does he pull a guy early when his pitch count is low.

"I don't want a guy who's in a slump and hurt batting with 2 outs in the 9th and the tying runs on base! What is wrong with letting Luis hit, get on base and then have LoDuca try and scrore the Winning or tying run? The Cab is up!! There was no need to put Mikey in!"

Luiy must be in the doghouse.

"He said in the paper this morning that "he gives up". I don't want that attitude managing my team!"

:o

He didn't mean he gave up on the season. He meant he gave up on figuring out why the lineup is great 1 day and not the next.

The move to use Lowell last night was a great one. It didn't work but you do not waste a guy like Lowell in that spot. Lo Duca's hand was hurt so having Luis go up there with the hope of extending it to Lo Duca was not the best option.

I like Jack, and I don't want him to go anywhere even if as rferry mentioned he has misused some guys including my boy Wayne.

Hey, I said you may not agree. I love this team and Jack is a part of it and sometimes he's fine but other times I don't like his decisions. Nothing I can do.. just felt like ranting after him saying that he's "given up". I don't wanna hear it coming from him.

BTW rferry I like a lot of what you said. Some of the things I did say you found out what I was going back too lol Ex- Perisho thing. I've been letting these thing go all year hoping for the return of the Jack that I believe in and trust but I'm still searching for him. Like I said, I don't ever was to hear "I give up" from my manager!

AP

Marlins manager Jack McKeon couldn't see much of a difference between the two starts -- other than the performance of his inconsistent offense.

"I don't know what ... to say anymore," he said. "I give up. It's almost, 'Which team is going to show up tonight?' And it's the same hitters. I am looking for a spark."

I had to read that twice last night also but you can see what he is giving up on there.

I saw the Herald article, they made it seem otherwise but you can see from the AP story what was meant when not taken out of context.

I know he wasn't meaning it directly on the season but... look, this is just a personal opinion and to me it seems like Jack doesn't care as much as he used too. I love Jack. As a fan though, I do believe that I have to right to NOT always agree with him. That's all that this is about. Being upset about certain decisions.

Yeah actually that sounds much better. Thank you :) Then you can kinda block out me being really upset about the "giving up" quote. ^_^

He put in Mike Lowell in the 9th because Luis is a single's hitter that might have made an easy out. That's why.

511725[/snapback]

I can understand that but like again, it's just an opinion. I wouldn't put Mikey in when he was hurt and in a slump. I wanted to win that game as much as anyone did, including Mikey. Not the time for a guy in a big slump in my opinion.

This team better put its act together and stop eating **** before we get eliminated from the playoffs. It's a disgrace to see World Series Champs get beaten by one of the worst team in baseball. Im sick and tired of this crap one day they play good and the next they make the pitcher look like Cy Young caliber material. Im tired of them not taking advantage of scrub pictchers with ERA higher then 5.0. They need to make a change whether its the hitting coach or the manager i just want to see some action done. :banghead :banghead :banghead

Jack didnt win the the World Series - the players on the field did. Was he able to right the ship and get this team to perform? Yes. Last year. This year, no. This team has underperformed all season long. I said we needed to put Conine in the 3 hole because we needed more contact to advance the runners and give him protection. We are essentially doing that with Lo duca now.

But this team is still inconsistent. I dont have an answer and it is clear Jack doesnt either. This team still has underperformed but it isnt that these guys dont know the stakes or that they arent putting forth the effort. Things just arent working out.

I agree with everything pretty much except the power hitters bunting (I'm a big fan of REAL small ball, not the fake s*** we've been putting out this season).

Honestly, I don't think Jack is a bad manager. I think he is above average.

The Magic, however, is long gone. They need to stop playing like it's still there.
