Marlins launch Spanish TV show, Marlins Semanal

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins have joined forces with WDLP, WGEN and FSN Florida to launch a complete hour of Marlins programming on two local Spanish-language television stations. Marlins Semanal, a half-hour Spanish-language show hosted by Raul Striker Jr., will air starting on Sunday, Sept. 12 on WGEN Ch. 8 at 6:00 p.m. and on WDLP Ch. 22 at 11:00 p.m., followed by FSN Florida's well-established program Marlins Weekly. Both shows will run through Oct. 3.

Marlins Semanal will recap the highlights of the week's Marlins games and will give an all-access insider look at the Marlins' Latin players and team events geared towards the Hispanic community. In this Sunday's episode, Raul Striker Jr. talks with Luis Castillo and the Marlins Mermaids, visits the Mini-Marlins Tee-ball League, takes you through the week's highlights and unveils The Hot Corner.

Raul Striker Jr. is currently in his second year as the Marlins' play-by-play SAP announcer on FSN Florida. Striker is paired with former Major League player and coach Cookie Rojas.

Both WGEN and WDLP broadcast from Key West to Boca Raton reaching 1.25 million households via cable and 850,000 households over-the-air. WDLP is also carried on DirecTV and the Dish Network.
