I have a feeling this could be what decides the election if neither guy botches the debates.

A sweeping voter registration campaign in heavily Democratic areas has added tens of thousands of new voters to the rolls in the swing states of Ohio and Florida, a surge that has far exceeded the efforts of Republicans in both states, a review of registration data shows.

 

The analysis by The New York Times of county-by-county data shows that in Democratic areas of Ohio - primarily low-income and minority neighborhoods - new registrations since January have risen 250 percent over the same period in 2000. In comparison, new registrations have increased just 25 percent in Republican areas. A similar pattern is apparent in Florida: in the strongest Democratic areas, the pace of new registration is 60 percent higher than in 2000, while it has risen just 12 percent in the heaviest Republican areas.

 

While comparable data could not be obtained for other swing states, similar registration drives have been mounted in them as well, and party officials on both sides say record numbers of new voters are being registered nationwide. This largely hidden but deadly earnest battle is widely believed by campaign professionals and political scientists to be potentially decisive in the presidential election.

I would say democratic but that's only judging on the most vocal politically active students... who knows what the whole demographic leans towards! (?)

Have you ever looked at an electoral map of the nation and of states? Republicans have the staunch support of back country hicks who have never stepped out of Podung Village, USA. The most backwards states in the frikkin Union are staunch red states!

 

Most older people vote the way they do because as you get older, you insulate yourself with your family and personal interests. That doesnt necessarily mean its what is best for the nation as a whole. That doesnt mean you are less ignorant or poltically educated either. Isnt it funny that Republicans have convinced the upper middle class family in Orlando that the terrorists could strike their house in Winter Park...better get the security system that keeps the terrorists out!

 

You know whats an even bigger coincendence? We have NY, Illinois, and California. We have em by large margins too..large enough that the poor and young vote wouldnt explain it. But since we are in the mood to be elitist...these three states have much more intelligence in their veins than most of the staunch red states.

 

I think the poor vote for reasons they vote for. I think the people in Mississippi vote for reasons they vote for. It has more to do with values and perspective. But dont pretend it has anything to do with more or less intelligence on either side. If you isolated the intelligence from both sides..youd prob get around the same. But both sides rely on people not as intillgent.

 

 

And the vast difference in registered voters is key. Yes the rate of vote wont be 100%, but in close states such as those, the mucg much larger number of potential people who go to the polls is a good thing to have on your side.

Id like to also note who the President of the United States is right now, the reasons a lot of people voted for him,. ie "He is a lot like them...like the down home guy", and what party he is from.

Have you ever lived in rural and farming areas.

 

Out here I've gotten the arguement by an old italian lady in a pizza place that John Kerry is transporting three planes of illegals each day from Mexico and she claimed her sources was someone telling her and she's connected with the mob. You also have the idiots who live in the north with confederate flags who happen to have Bush/Cheney signs.(Toby keith and Charlie Daniels are good examples)

 

Just as you have people growing up in urban areas who have no idea what the hell is going on other than they've concoted the idea that the white republicans are the only people to blame(Rapper Jadakiss is the best example).

 

Both parties have their whacko idiots, so to say it's only democrats is Idiotic.
