October 4, 200422 yr Lowell (8) Castillo (5.33) Conine (4.75) Gonzalez (3.4) Pierre (3.4) Magglio Ordo?ez (2.5) (1/8 -> 2.5-2.5-3) Josh Willingham (.3) Miguel Cabrera (.5) A.J. Burnett (3) Josh Beckett (2) Dontrelle Willis (.5) Orlando Hernandez (1) (1/1) Trevor Hutchinson (.2) Benitez (4) (3/15) Mota (2) (2/4) Spooneybarger (.5) Perisho (.5) Bump (.5) Wayne (.5) Randy Messenger (.2) Mike Mordecai (.5) Matt Treanor (.3) Josh Wilson (.2) The Lenny (.5) Chris Aguila (.2) Look at Me I have a statue (2) I hit straight pitch bery bery well (11) Grand Total - 57.78 million Noticeable changes italicized. Some differences: - This version is if we were to go out and grab a bat. Magglio could take a Pudge like contract if he finds little interest on the market. We'll see. - Enc and Lo Duca are packaged off in a deal for prospects to a team that needs a catcher. - I was thinking of making Beckett the bait in the Enc deal, but with Pavano likely not coming back it's better he stays. - El Duque comes home.
October 4, 200422 yr I like this one the most so far out of the ones that has been proposed. Probably the most realistic too. Maybe switch a Magglio if he did not agree with that deal with Jermaine Dye or spend the extra money to get JD Drew. Maybe instead of Hernandez sign a guy like Tomko although I think Hernandez would be better just another option. Might be a good idea to sign one more person from outside the organization for the bullpen. I know spooney will be back but he is coming off Tommy John and we all saw that not even Burnett was at 100% when he first came back. Although Spooney has the advantage that he will have more time because wasn't his surgery a year ago last month?
October 4, 200422 yr Another cheap option could be a Derek Lowe. Me thinks he would strive with our defense (SEE: Pavano) and after the rough season he had this year might not make too much. And yes, Spooney's surgery I believe was last August. But he should be healthy in time for ST.
October 4, 200422 yr Beinfest has said that we're keeping Lo Duca so all payroll projections should probably account for about $6 mil or so...

October 4, 200422 yr I think a big thing to accept is the fact tha pavano will be gone. for sure. there is no home town discount that will put him in our price range. we should consider trying to fill that gap with pitcher like mark redman (i know he is in oakland i mean it figuratvly) and maybe even a derek lowe who would benefit from a pitcher freindly park...

October 6, 200422 yr With some minor changes (Lowell makes 7.5, Conine makes 3) this projection is lowered to 55.53 million dollars, making it more than feasible.
