Chicago Tribune endorses Bush

Featured Replies

I think this needs to be mentioned. When the tribune went after Jack Ryan and exposed his divorce files, they were lambasted as being a liberal rag. I talked to conservatives who said they would be cancelling their subscriptions. The state party of furious. Now theyve endorsed Bush. Jumpin the gun can be a bitch...

That could nothing to do with Bush right? I mean any opposition is just liberal bias. Bush could do anything and any paper that doesnt endorse him is liberal bias.

Looking at how many more papers endorsed Bush in 2000:

There is that liberal bias for you. Wanna explain that? Please do.

the endorsement of president for this election does not prove or disprove any of the liberal bias in media claims. Thats oversimplifying a major issue

Nope, just in the Chicago Tribune.

until it reports something bad for conservatives...then back to being a liberal rag!

I hope this wasnt in reference to what I said, because if it was i apologize for being vague. My point is that this single incidence of a newspaper sponsoring a candidate cannot on its own determine if the newspaper is balanced, liberal, or conservative. The chicago tribune is not automatically conservative becaus eit endorses bush. What other articles have been written in the past few months/years, what are the party affiliations of editors, writers so forth. Furthermore, I have often agreed for example that fox news is conservative, but I will never take as credible any argument by anyone who claims that fox news is conservativr and unablanced but that every other station is balanced or vice versa. The new york times and the post are liberally biased its not a question its a fact, talk to anyone in the media.

This would actually mean something if Newspaper endorements actually mattered anymore.

But since it's not 1948 anymore.....meh.

Supposedly, the Chicago Tribune has not endorsed a Democrat since Horace Greeley in 1872. I know they didn't endorse Clinton in '92 or '96.
