Tired of right v left

Featured Replies

I'm so tired of this right vs. left. For god's sake, I'm an independent and I have the sense to vote for the right candidate regardless of party. Isn't that the most logical approach, after all? What does it mean to robotically defend a candidate just because he's a Republican or a Democrat? It defies logic! The two-party system in this country is running the U.S. into the ground. Life is not black and white. Dualism is always at the root of discord -- the I'm right and you're wrong mentality. Right now, half of this country feels like it got run over by a truck, and the so-called Christian right are behaving in a less-than-compassionate way. For all the touting of Christian morality, I have yet to see anyone behave in their everyday lives "like Jesus would do." The very people who are espousing Christianity are the very ones who are the most hostile, aggressive and argumentative. It seems to me that the ones who accuse Liberals of being elitist are the ones with the biggest inferiority complexes. No one with any real self-esteem could project such venom on someone else. The more miserable you are, the more you have to attack in order to make yourself feel better. Just like casting a vote for the "values" president makes you feel better about yourself somehow. The fact is, and the Bush supporters will not even consider this for a moment, George W. Bush doesn't care a s*** about you. He doesn't share your morality or values. This election was about putting enough lipstick on the pig to fool the most vulnerable and blindly believing among us in order to secure re-election. Period. But none of you will admit it because that would be admitting that you've been duped. The irony is that religion-infested politics is what we're fighting against in the case of Islamic Fundamentalists! Now this nation insists that OUR brand of religious fundamentalism is better than THEIRS. Can't you see the madness in this? It's a sad, sad day for America.

Goodness.

Be prepared to get flamed. There are some pretty sensible things said there, but it's just gonna be a "Blah blah blah, typical liberal garbage blah blah blah" because he makes no mention of the errors of the left.

right v. left doesnt = black v. white..

we all realize there are different "shades" of right and "shades" of left.

If one is foolish enough to believe that if you are right then you agree with all other rightists on every issue, and same with leftists.

I'd agree with you FG, but many have said that a primary reason Bush won was his ability to paint issues as black and white, while Kerry's weakness was nuance. That was my friend's point.
