November 7, 200421 yr Our homecoming game yesterday, with #2 Georgia Southern visiting. We were #3. Beat em 29-22! Everyone had us losing. Georgia Southern averages 52 points a game, and we held them to 22....they scored more on the Georgia Bulldogs (28). Anyway, our fans rushed the field after the win, and if we beat Wofford and Chattanooga, we get them SoCon championship rings, the automatic bid to the playoffs (Southern will obviously be still going, and possible Wofford), and home-field advantage all the way through (until the National Championship, which is at a neutral site in Chatanooga). Great win...Furman will move up to #2...we just beat what I considered the best team (besides us) in 1-AA (I dont think So. Illinois is as good as Southern).
November 7, 200421 yr I saw that you guys won and was surprised, Southern had been playing great ball. FIU plays them on Saturday, but you just proved they could be beat. Nice job.
November 7, 200421 yr I've seen both teams play. While Southern's offense is awesome, a good defense will always beat a good offense in my opinion. I know Furman had few injuries earlier in the year on defense but they have one smothering defense. Elon could barely move the ball on them and at the time we had the conference's leading rusher.(Before he got hurt) Good luck dood. And don't take Chattannoga lightly. Btw that receiver on App State is ridiculous. In 10 games the guy has 98 receptions 1550 yards and 14 touchdowns. I think his name is Folk or something similar.
November 7, 200421 yr Great win man congrats (although SIU is better than Georgia Southern, have fun stopping their running game in the playoffs).
November 7, 200421 yr playoffs!?! what a great idea! 610253[/snapback] :lol :lol :lol :lol SO true.....
November 8, 200421 yr Author it wouldn't be the playoffs....if So. Illinois survives the playoffs (and so does Furman), it would be in Chattanooga.
November 10, 200421 yr Author pretty good.... fortunately for us, our team doesnt revolve around him...or we'd end up like Citadel last year (who had Willie Simmons at QB, but the team sucked). Our 3-headed running game is sick, and we have the top WR corps in the country. Throw in a stout defense (when healthy), a Buchanan Award candidate....you've got yourself a complete team.
