Urbina as of right now is the closer, but is more than likely going to be dealt. I wouldn't mind seeing him stay on though.

According to Jayson Stark's insider chat the signing was made as insurance in case Urbina doesn't come back right away next season because of the unresolved situation with his mother (which really is sad).

 

If the situation does resolve itself (for the Tigers, ideally before January) the Giants and Marlins are the two teams that have been in contact with the Tigers but want to see what happens with Benitez first.

 

I'll be honest, Urbina at $4 mil or Benitez at about $6 doesn't affect me, but either one of them being set-up by Mota makes us very formidable next season.

According to Dombrowski yesterday at the press conference, Urbina has guaranteed he'll be back at the beginning of next season to play. This could be embellishing the truth to a certain extent, but I hope its true.
