December 15, 200421 yr DC Council Votes to keep Baseball Stadium at Anacostia Waterfront WASHINGTON (AP) - The DC Council has voted down an amendment to move the site of the proposed baseball stadium. Council member Kathy Patterson was the swing vote that kept the baseball plan from being moved from the Anacostia waterfront to a spot near RFK Stadium. Councilman David Catania offered the amendment, arguing that the RFK site would be less expensive. The amendment failed on a 7-to-6 vote, but it got the vote of Chairman Linda Cropp, even though she said it would be a deal-breaker. Cropp says Major League Baseball has been very clear that it doesn't don't want to stay near RFK.
