December 19, 200421 yr no point I dont think they will completely get rid of the 3, Zito is the most affordable out of the 3 so signing him wouldnt be too hard yes, they might have given up on the 05 season but they still have an above avg team and great young talent
December 19, 200421 yr Perhaps Beane thinks it's time to start over (Harden-Blanton-Haren-Cruz-Meyer + Chavez-Crosby-Swisher is a damn good place to start) and planned to trade all three. If he was having trouble netting a good return on any of one of three, as was reported many months ago with Zito, it might be best to wait on trading him until after the other two are gone. That way teams will recognize how much Zito means to the A's and offer more than they would have.
