My father, brother and his girlfriend are all in Phuket but luckily not at the beach that morning. I stayed here with my mom because I didn't have enough vacation days to make it out there for Xmas.

 

Now they stuck there without electricity and with the stench of death all around but thats insignificant compared with being alive. They say there are a bunch of kids in the hospitals without parents.

 

Really horrible.

Great to hear they're ok. That's pretty incredible. How do they plan on getting home?

Planes out are booked solid so my dad is flying back next week. My brother and his girlfriend live and work over there so they are staying. They have electricity and say things are getting back to normal. The city seems to have gotten a lot of money to start with the reparations. From all the areas affected, they had the best infrastructure to deal with it.
