Posted February 12, 200519 yr I go to school in Virginia right now but I was looking to transfer somewhere w/ engineering. Since you guys probably are a lot more familiar with the state of FL than I am (from PA), I was wondering what you thought of UFL and how close it is the Dolphins stadium. Thanks
February 12, 200519 yr UF is just about the best state university in the country. I know people majoring in Electrical Enigeering right now. As far the distance from Dolphins Stadium, more than a 6 hour drive.
February 12, 200519 yr Well Chewy is right one one count. It is the best University in the state, and rated in the top 10 every year in the public university category. The only public universities that ualways do better are Michigan and MIT. Anyway it is more of a 4.5 to 5 hour drive. If you drive 5-10 MPH over the speed limit like I do. Its not THAT bad of a drive. You sbasically stay on the same highway the whole way.
February 12, 200519 yr Author k thanks. One more question...... Is it warm all the time????????? because freezing temps are getting really old.

But it gets a lot colder in North Florida. And there's lots of ...........Republicans up there.
February 12, 200519 yr Well Chewy is right one one count. It is the best University in the state, and rated in the top 10 every year in the public university category. The only public universities that ualways do better are Michigan and MIT. MIT is a private school. UF is a good school, but I'm not sure I'd rank it above the U-Cals, University of Virginia, College of William and Mary, UNC, Georgia Tech, University of Wisconsin, and University of Illinois. 683663 UF has more national merit scholars than all those schools.
February 12, 200519 yr Author right now I go to James Madison and I'm in this program with UVA for physics/engineering. I'd be going there next fall if I stay with it, but I visited UVA and I hate it there. The people are such pricks with their flipped colar polo crap...... and there all fake red sox fans. I think I would go insane if I end up there so I'm lookin for alternatives and UF seems like a pretty good one.
February 12, 200519 yr if you can get into UVA, you'd be foolish to pass on that. popped collars or not, that's one of the best--if not the best--public schools you can go to. UVA >>> UF >>>>>> JMU and rated in the top 10* every year in the public university category. The only public universities that ualways do better are Michigan and MIT*. 683595 1. top 25* 2. MIT is about as private a school can get
February 13, 200519 yr UF is undoubtedly the best engineering school in the state...but also the furthest from Miami. Other schools for you to consider would be Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and the University of South Florida in Tampa.
February 13, 200519 yr Don't leave UVA, I'd kill to get in there. William and Mary is a good school but it's overrated, I wouldn't rank it above UF.
February 13, 200519 yr in terms of cost + academics, UF is one of the best, although i personally would like to go to school somewhere out of state
February 13, 200519 yr Author Either way I don't think I can go wrong. I've asked my physics prof.'s and they have told me that if you really want to do engineering stay away from UVA. Plus for me UVA will cost around $20K more a year than florida.
