Oil Change

We currently have 3 'trucks' we take care of regularly, and they all have pretty good mileage on them. My wife's RAV4 with 78+K, My F-150 with 129+K, and my old Ranger that we use for most of the dirty work (hauling & stuff) with 230+K.

We drive a lot. But if you take care of them, they just keep going and going and going and go........

Tips, people! Tips!

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo with 45K...I have to clean it, but it's really not in bad shape. What routine should I go about to ensure its survival.

Parents paid for this one, but I'm going to have to empty the bank for the next...I want this one to last for a while.

Regular maintenance. Change the oil every 3-5K (rotate your tires at the same time, it saves tire life since the fronts tend to get chewwed up faster. Make sure your air and fuel filters are clean and changed regularly (you can actually feel the difference,) and don't forget about a transmission service (15-20K for automatics, 40-50K for manual.) Flush the cooling system at least once a year, and ALWAYS check all the fluids on your car on a regular basis (pick one day a week to take the 5 minutes needed to fo through everything.) If your brake or power steering fluid begins to look the slightest bit milky, flush the system. Keep up the air pressure in the tires. etc....

Really simple things. The vehicle I had the least amount of miles on was an Oldsmobile with 170K. The only reason I didn't drive that one any farther was because I sold that one to get something else.
