Posted March 30, 200519 yr Now I know some people on this board were up in arms about judges hearing cases from people who gave them money. Well in this case this newly elected state justice was given $350,000 by State Farm, a defendant in a case he is about to hear. Where are those people screaming "ethics" now? Oh nevermind this case of "judicial ethics" doesn't help promote their agenda. Plus, the justice is republican. ... After Karmeier was sworn in, plaintiffs in a lawsuit against State Farm Insurance filed a motion seeking to bar him from hearing the case, which is pending before the Supreme Court. The plaintiffs argued that, because Karmeier had received political donations from State Farm and its supporters, he shouldn't be allowed to rule on a case involving State Farm. Plaintiffs cited about $350,000 in contributions that Karmeier's campaign received from State Farm, its attorneys and entities that supported the company in the court case. ... link I just wonder where those voices are now.
March 30, 200519 yr hahaha...call me out-of-the-loop, but who exactly is defending the guy or looking the other way? do we have state farm insurance agents on this board or something?
March 30, 200519 yr Author hahaha...call me out-of-the-loop, but who exactly is defending the guy or looking the other way? do we have state farm insurance agents on this board or something? 724508[/snapback] Certain people on this board were upset that Judge Greer, of the Schiavo case, recieved $500 in campaign contributions from George Felos, the Schiavo attorney, and they said it was against judicial ethics for him to hear the case. There have been many right-winged, dare I say, national voices complained that Greer got contributions from Felos. My question is, where are those voices on this case? I can't stand hypocrisy. You're either always against it, or not. You can't pick and choose when it just conveniences you.
March 30, 200519 yr i voted no and still agree that judges shouldn't be allowed to hear cases which involve people they've received contributions from although it's not something i've dug deeply into, on a surface level it makes sense regardless however, there were some people who disagreed on a board poll 11 voted that they should be prevented ... 7 said they shouldn't hardly a landslide ... also, these things rarely make huge news splashes ... at least to the level where I'd hear them and be outraged by it

March 30, 200519 yr Author Its a national story, I don't know why you think its some obscure thing. I am also wondering why the Rush's in the world aren't covering this. He and a few others show sung the Greer got $$$ tune, but they make no mention of it. I heard about this on Bortz.
April 1, 200519 yr Its shocking, absolutely SHOCKING that there would be a corrupt judge in the great state of IL. The land of such luminaries as Al Capone, Daly, etc.
