So which is it?

What I usually hear about the PCL from people here is that the pitching in the league is so weak it makes even the most mediocre hitter look good.

Now it seems you're saying wow the guy must be a good pitcher because he's only giving up a hit an inning to all these great hitters.

Which is it?

( Don't get me wrong I hope the guy does well and heaven forbid we need him, he excels. )

I dont really get the "which is it?"

you are still hearing its a hitters paradise, thus Castillo's numbers arent too shabby

That IS the point. Isn't it a hitter's paradise because the pitching is lousy? The parks aren't that small and they aren't all a mile high like the Rockies AAA team, so if it's not the stadiums and it isn't the altitude, and it isn't the hitters' themselves, then the only thing left to explain the high averages is the pitching.

Marlins2003,

Below you'll find a listing of the elevation of each AAA and AA Southern League (where our AA Marlins play) city. They may not all be a mile high, but there's definetly a large gap that would suggest the PCL's homer-happy ways are not solely from the lack of quality pitching prospects.
