Posted June 5, 200519 yr I hate to admit it, but I've been against the posts that stated about how the FO needs to fire Bill Robinson. I have changed my mind, as something has to be done before it is too late. As some have pointed out, someone has to be the fall guy to help this team out and I think Mr. Robinson has played his tenure out with the Fish, as much as I like the man. I followed him and the other "Family" members (Not Manson, lol) that made up the 1979 Pirates World Series team and have been a fan of Bill's for years. But the offense is playing way below it's potential and a jolt usually almost always helps, whether coincidental or not. We unloaded our pitching coach before the season started and now it looks like we need to make another move. The news just broke tonight about Eddie Murray getting the axe from the Indians. Who's next? Mattingly of the Yankees (although the pitching woes are more apparent but the offense has been just as stagnant), Robinson? Someone is in line.I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bill goes before the allstar break. I don't care who we get to replace him. Bring in Tony Perez or Andre Dawson. How about Tommy Hutton? lol. Marc
June 5, 200519 yr They fired Eddie Murray?!?!? 796197 just because you once were a great hitter, doesnt mean you are a great coach
June 5, 200519 yr i don't see us having a great coach now, so let's at least try the great hitter. i'm on board for eddie murray.
June 5, 200519 yr I don't think anyone posted the article last week in which Robinson was pretty laid back about the lack of hitting and scoring on this team. (I looked for the article and couldn't find it.) He basically said he wasn't worried about the hitting. That it would come around. The question is...when? I guess he knows he won't be fired.
June 5, 200519 yr He needs to get the boot, but I would puke if Murray came on this team. 796251 is puking a positive response or a negative response?
June 5, 200519 yr Baseball is a bottom line game. Either you perform or you're out. This is the second season in a row the offense is performing well below it's capability. It's time for a change.

I don't have anything against Robinson, but both players and coaches have been doing stupid things in this slump and they need to make some move to provide some spark. Or Jack needs to get tossed and kick up some dirt on blue.
