Posted June 17, 200519 yr Chip Ambres went 2-for-4 with his ninth homer and his 16th stolen base for Triple-A Pawtucket yesterday. The Red Sox probably won't trade Jay Payton, but if they do, Ambres could take over as the team's fourth outfielder. The former Marlins' first-round pick is batting .328/.436/.566 in 60 games for Pawtucket. He's just 25, so he should have a future. Jun. 17 - 3:20 pm et sourcerotoworld.com Hopefully we don't miss anything. He was let go for nothing. He's starting to do what he was projected to do.
June 17, 200519 yr yea, hopefully he wont be a great superstar in the future because we practicly let him go for nothing
June 17, 200519 yr He was a raw high school talent when I saw him. Got to watch him play AA ball and he was so-so. He's at the right age for everything to show up. Maybe he'll pick up a little hustle along the way.
June 17, 200519 yr yea, good thing he dintd get picked up by a NL east team or i would defeny hate him, but since hes in the AL, i wish the best to him

June 18, 200519 yr We finally agreed on something. Ambres was let go in a desperate 40-man roster move by a club with desperate playoff chance. Sure, there were one or two players on the roster that could have been removed at the time (I think Mike Flannery was on there at the time), but Ambres had been a disappointment. Good to see he's finally realizing his potential even if it is at AAA.
