Posted June 20, 200519 yr Seems to me like we're short a pitcher. Looks like the starters will be Leiter-?-A.J. Saturday's pitcher is unlikely to be a bullpen effort after a Leiter start. Beckett will probably be held out another start. That means a minor league call up. So....for those of you out there that watch our AA and AA teams...who's ready for a start?.
June 20, 200519 yr hmm...Friday and Saturday's starters have yet to be announced, although Friday's starter will probably be Leiter, because he pitched on Sunday and would be pitching on 4 days rest. However, maybe he'll pitch on Saturday and we'll give him 5 days rest and instead, we'll have a minor leauger pitch on Friday. And I think that's what we should do--give Leiter 5 days rest and let him pitch on Saturday.
June 21, 200519 yr Let Al pitch. There's no way he can screw up against the Devil Rays.....  or can he? :shifty
June 21, 200519 yr Either way when Al pitches the Fish will still need an emergency start from someone....so lets look at AA, when do Olsen and Johnson next pitch or pitched...will the be available either Friday or Saturday???
June 21, 200519 yr The Marlins still haven't announced their starters for Friday and Satirday's game. The Devil Rays however, have announced their starter already for Friday's game. It will be Doug Waechter who is 3-4 5.63, and it'll be his first outing ever against the Marlins. Al Leiter should be able to go up against him, but maybe we should leave that up to a triple a pitcher and leave a most probable tougher task for Leiter on Saturday. The Marlins will either announce Friday's starter today or tomorrow.
June 21, 200519 yr The Marlins have announced that Travis Smith will start the Saturday game vs. the Devil Rays and Leiter will start Friday Leiter vs. Dave Waechter Smith (0-0, 8.00) vs. Casey Fossum (3-5, 3.99)
June 21, 200519 yr Leiter on Friday. But I don't see where it says that Smith will be starting on Saturday. The Devil Rays have announced their starter for Saturday though--Casey Fossum.(3-5, 3.99) And he's 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in his only start against the Marlins this season.
June 21, 200519 yr Good Lord, I'd rather see Castillo again than have Smith start. 819225 I know, but atleast Fossum sucks also. That gives us a chance to win. Normally it would just be an automatic loss for us with Smith pitching, but on Saturday it won't be.
June 22, 200519 yr Fossum's ERA is under 4.00, that doesnt suck too much buddy 819583 Fossum is a lefty, meaning Luis will batting right-handed, and we all what happens when bats as a righty. :whistle
June 22, 200519 yr Fossum's ERA is under 4.00, that doesnt suck too much buddy 819583 Yeah, but he aint great, so we could win. He has had some control problems in the past, righties hit great against him. His best pitch is his curveball, and his fastball often gets taken over the fence. We should fill up the lineup with righties.
June 22, 200519 yr Remeber we make alot of these guys look like Cy Youngs out there...But let's not be negative, right?
