Bernalillo Fire

A wildfire is burning on the west side of the Rio Grande in the town of Bernalillo. The fire is estimated at around 20 acres, is moving southwesterly and is currently not threatening any homes. However, there are a number of housing subdivisions in the area, including the upscale Bosque Encantado, and River?s Edge III.

Sandoval County, Bernalillo County, Albuquerque Fire, Rio Rancho Fire departments are battling the fire.

The fire started around 5:30 pm in the Bosque off Sheriff's Posse Road.

No evacuations have been ordered, but power was knocked out for two hours to 789 customers. PNM believes a power pole was hit by lightning.

I was going pee at work when the lights went out... That was not fun.. I went outside and saw black smoke everywhere. Looked like a bomb went off. I can see the flames from my block. Only 25% contained.
