Braden Looper developing other picthes?

Featured Replies

In one of the last Marlin games, I believe Tommy Hutton said that Looper was starting to develop a splitter. Is this true? That would be awesome if he is. I'm sick of him throwing 95% fastballs.

If he develops a splitter and a nice changeup, he will definately be in the elite class of closers. :D

He has a change-up.

And yes, he is developing a split.

But he throws both two-seam and four-seam fastballs. When you see a straight, 97 MPH fastball, and then the next pitch it's a 97 MPH fastball that moves away from you, it's hard to pick up.

He has a changeup?? Really?? :mischief2

He's gotten 22 saves for us this year.

The sad thing is, that's not that good, especially for a winning team.

All be it, he has been very solid all year. But 22 saves in early August is nothing special by any means.

early in the season the Marlins would either lose or win big so Loop didnt have that many save ops, lately things have picked up and hes done a solid job.

Looper has a Fastball and Silder...

He has 2 different fastballs, a slider he never uses, and a change he rarely uses.

Imagine if out of no where he just starting throwing a disgusting 12-6 curve. Now that would be awesome.

For the most part, that's what closers do- they blow the ball past the hitters. They are the ones who bring the heat.

Yes, it's nice for him to develop more pitches in his arsenol, but don't knock a good thing. He's gotten 22 saves for us this year.

he's only had 26 chances........22/26 it pretty damn good

and i ask you why?

maybe it just means the Marlins beat other teams by more than 3 runs a night if they win?

or maybe every game isnt so close?

get a grip

Yea he only throws a Fastball and slider and he rarely even uses his slider. SO he wanted another pitch and thats why he got to Splitter. He wants to use the Splitter as is strikeout pitch since his slider isnt that good.

oh i thought he only had a 2-seam fastball.. my bad :banghead

Again, he also has a change-up... :banghead
