July 30, 200521 yr This wasn't online, its in the paper, but i'll write down those players mentioned as possibly being targeted by the Marlins... Sun-Sentinel Reports... Only a 20% chance AJ will be dealt to the ChiSox, 5% anywhere else... Marlins continue talks about aquring Mark redman from Pit... Marlins contacted Giants about Scott Eyre and Jason Christianson with possible bait being AAA-infielder Josh Wilson and OF's Aguila and Eric Reed... Marlins continue in talks for Ron Villone and Everyday Eddie from the Mariners... The Marlins are interested in David Weathers and Kent Mercker of the Reds for pitching prospects. Weathers is a McKeon favorite and the more likely of the 2 to return (I think we should get him). Aquring TB reliever Danys Baez is unlikely because the Marlins won't part with Pitchers Scott Olsen or Jason Vargas (yeah!). However the Marlins are also looking at TB pitchers Travis Harper and Trevor Miller. The Marlins are dangling Catcher Josh Willingham to AL teams... The Marlins are waiting for the asking prices of KC's relievers Mike MacDougal, Jeremy Affeldt, Andrew Sisco and Ambiorx Burgos to drop. The Royals want a young power hitting corner OF in return but Jeremy Hermida is deemed off-limits. KC might also be interest in Yorman Bazardo... There were indications may have been trying to do a 3 team deal with the Royals and ChiSox because the ChiSox have prospects the Royals desire but would most likely involve Burnett and Marte. The Marlins may try to interest them in Guillermo Mota instead...
July 30, 200521 yr I doubt some of those reports. Marlins shopping an injured Willingham sounds the work of a clueless or spiteful individual. Eyre for Wilson or Aguila or Reed? Yeah right.
July 30, 200521 yr If willy wasnt hurt, I would send him to KC for one of those pitchers. It would solidify our bullpen.
