Who gets the September calls

Featured Replies

First of all, the roster can be expanded to as many 40 players from the requisite 25.

Most managers prefer to limit that number to no more than a handful because it just complicates things for everyone concerned. One important thing is to not have what happened last year where players end their minor league seasons and then because of any injury, have to bring up a kid like Kensing two or three weeks after their season has ended, when they're rusty and ill-prepared to be thrown to the wolves.

All that said, and looking at the Marlins as of right now, and the September schedule, I would say you can expect to see Messenger and Resop, maybe Johnson, certainly Hermida and Andino/Wilson.

Also, depending on how Willingham's arm has recovered you can probably pencil him in. Joe Dillon is absolutely on fire right now and if he continues at his current torrid pace right through the end of his season, he'll probably be added as well.

I don't hold myself out as an expert on our minor league players so I'll leave it to others to critique my choices and make other selections. It might also be that kids like Volstad get a limited callup, just to get a "taste" of the bigs.

Oops, I almost forgot Mordy :thumbup
