Posted August 8, 200321 yr Jason Stokes, the Marlins' top hitting prospect, has been selected for a place in the Arizona Fall League. Stokes, 21, has overcome offseason wrist surgery to hit .262 with 16 home runs and 79 RBI for Single-A Jupiter. Other Marlins' prospects invited to Arizona include Triple-A RHP Jason Grilli, and Double-A RHPs Mike Flannery and Randall Messenger, outfielder Chris Aguila, and catcher Josh Willingham. Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel c/o rotoworld.com *Not sure why Flannery and Messenger were picked over other relief/SP prospects we have at Carolina...I'm excited to see what Willingham can do there. Marlins signed RHP Chad Fox and assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque. The Red Sox released the oft-injured Fox after obtaining Scott Williamson. His stuff has never been questioned, just his health. He makes a nice pickup for the Marlins as extra depth or insurance for Tim Spooneybarger. No fantasy value, though. August 9, 200321 yr thanks for the info, this is strange for me because most of the times the AFL is used for prospect that teams believe are ready for the biggs within one year. Stokes is only 21 while most of the top players in that league are 23-25.
