KOEHLER PROMOTED August 30, 2005 (GREENSBORO, NC) The Florida Marlins announced late Monday night that right-handed pitcher Kurt Koehler has been promoted to class High-A Jupiter in Jupiter, FL. Lefty and former Grasshopper, Travis Talbott will return to the Greensboro bullpen. Kurt Koehler has been a part of the Hopper team since the start of the season. He has pitched in 29 games as a Grasshopper and is 2-9 with a 5.23 ERA. In 117.0 innings he has allowed 152 hits, 81 runs, and seven homers. He has struck out 90 batters and walked another 48. Hitters are averaging .321 against Koehler at the plate. Koehler's most recent decisions were back-to-back wins, his only two on the year. He initially began this season in the rotation before taking a spot in the bullpen in early August. As a starter, Koehler was 0-9 with a 5.49 ERA. He spent a brief time on the disabled list in early June when he suffered a head injury diving into the shallow end of a swimming pool. He was originally drafted in the 17th round of the 2003 first year player draft. Travis Talbott, who had previously pitched in 14 games as a Grasshopper already this season, has returned to Greensboro. He began the 2005 season with the Jamestown Jammers before being promoted to Greensboro in early July.

Dont get me wrong, Koehler has good stuff ( I saw him throw last nite) , I just thought for the last week of the season, a promtion should be a reward for a good season.
