I was horrified just reading the descriptions. I couldn't imagine watching the movies.

Interesting... earlier I mentioned "Irreversible" (#10) in that thread about death scenes in movies. The scene I referred to is the "fire-extinguisher-bludgeon scene", as described on that site.

 

Even though it's a very hard-to-watch film, "Irreversible" is quite well directed and acted, and in my opinion deserves a look if you're a film aficionado. I can't say the same for some of the other titles on that list, which reads more like a collection of faux snuff (save perhaps for "Cannibal Holocaust", which many consider a "cult classic").
