New Jersey prep star intrigued to learn of the existence of Rutgers

 

Melvin Jones, a high school football and basketball star at Camden, New Jersey?s Mercy High, was intrigued to learn today that his home state actually has a university that competes in Division I athletics named Rutgers.

?I?ve been getting a lot of letters and interest from D-I schools over the past year,? said the senior receiver and point guard, ?and today my football coach asked he if I had considered staying home and playing for Rutgers. I was like: ?Who the f?k is Rutgers?? And he told me Rutgers is New Jersey?s state school. I couldn?t believe we had one. I consider myself a pretty big college football and basketball fan, but I honestly had never heard of that place before today.?

And not only did Jones?s coach let him know about Rutgers?s existence, but he also informed him the Scarlet Knights are bowl-eligible this season for the first time in 13 years.

?That?s pretty impressive that they?ll be in an actual bowl game this year,? said Jones. ?But why should I go to a school that hasn?t made a bowl game almost since I was born when I have offers from established programs like Penn State, Virginia Tech and Boston College? Home state pride can only go so far. Plus, why can?t they have a regular name like every other state school? ?Rutgers,? or whatever they call it, is pretty stupid in my opinion.?

:lol :lol That made my day, We are Rutgers rival in just about every sport except football, and I know a couple guys on their football team i'm gonna have to give them a hard time about that.

Plus, why can?t they have a regular name like every other state school? ?Rutgers,? or whatever they call it, is pretty stupid in my opinion.?
