Panthers acquire D Semenov from Oilers for draft pick

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) - Defenseman Alexei Semenov has been brought on board to try to get the Florida Panthers back into the win column.


Prior to their home game against the New York Islanders on Saturday, the Panthers acquired Semenov from the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional pick in the 2006 draft.


The 6-6, 235-pound Semenov, who was the Oilers' second-round pick in the 1999 draft, had one goal, one assist and 17 penalty minutes in 11 games with Edmonton this season. He will be joining a Panthers team in the midst of a 10-game losing streak.


Semenov, 24, has four goals, 14 points and 107 penalty minutes in 103 career games.
