Accord
Dillon leaving Marlins to play in Japan Associated Press MIAMI - Infielder Joe Dillon was not offered a contract by the Florida Marlins on Tuesday, freeing him to join the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese league. Teams had until midnight Tuesday to offer 2006 contracts to their unsigned players. Players on rosters not offered contracts by the so-called tender deadline become free agents. Teams sometimes refuse to offer contracts to those players in order to avoid salary arbitration. The Marlins will receive cash considerations in exchange for not tendering a contract to Dillon, who hit .167 in 36 at-bats this past season. http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/new...al/13452514.htm Good luck Joe and thanks for the memories, hopefully you'll get a good chance to show your stuff in Japan and a big league club will end up signing you next year.
