January 16, 200620 yr Well playing Reed or Abercrombie (neither of whom is ready) or Aguila (who scouts say is no better than a fifth OF) in center is a recipe for disaster. You won't get an argument from me regarding whether Reed or Abercromie look to be ready but I would say wait until spring training to see if Aguila can earn (operative word, "earn") a starting position or not. I also think, although admittedly it's a longshot and certainly open to debate (although I'm not trying to encourage that debate), that Jeremy Hermida may be your opening day CFer, something I've changed my mind about since the idea was first brought up here. All three (Reed, Abercromie and Aguila) have the opportunity of a lifetime, literally, to become an everyday major leaguer. Let's see what happens this spring before writing anyone off. There's also still the chance that the Marlins may trade for Gathright or Gomes, or someone else young and with the potential the Marlins are looking for in a rebuilding year.
