alright i made a video...and i burned it onto a dvd and it plays on my computer but it doesnt paly when i put it in a dvd palyer. i tink for the dvd player to play it the movie needs a menu screen. You know when you put a dvd in a main screen pops up letting you choose play or extras or whatever. Im using windows movie maker...anyone know how to make a menu screen?

Windows Media Audio/Video file; i used a CD burner...um if it sound like im not an expert with computers...its because im not...but please be patient...any help you can give me would be great...what should i do?

Since you don't have a DVD burner, you can't make an actual DVD, but you should be able to create a VCD on a normal blank CD that will play on most DVD players. Unfortunately, I can't find very many free programs that will do this, but you might want to check out http://www.videohelp.com/vcd for information on the VCD format and possible programs.

 

 

 

EDIT: Try http://www.divx-digest.com/software/avi2dvd.html for a bunch of freeware stuff. Once you install and run the program, import your WMV, set the aspect ratio to 4:3 (do this below the "Load" button). Then, move to step 2 and select your media type (CD-R and its size). You should be all set with encoding, subtitles, and menus (since you don't need them). Return to the Step 1 window and "Add Job" (bottom). Then press "GO!" and follow any directions. In the end, you will end up with a bunch of files and a .ISO file - this is the one you burn with a burning application. Note that since I use other software, I have never tried this method. But it looks like it might be able to fit your needs.

I recommend Ashampoo CD Recording Suite 4. It's worked nothing but awsome for me. But you'll need something to convert those WMVs to MPEGs before you can make them. I recommend MPEG Converter 2.0. It's really easy and works well. I would stay away from Cucusoft products. I have one of those and it works ok on some files, but on others, it leaves a clicking sound or the audio doesn't sync up. Anyhow, to get both programs I recommended, it's going to cost you around $60. Someone on here might no of some really good free ones, but I don't. Hope that helps.

Nero works good for VCD's..Only if the file is under 700 MB (or 650, depending on your CD) though.
