January 31, 200619 yr The guy who made it is/was under contract at Warner Bros. This was made when Batman Begins was just an idea and not a fully realized script. So, this guy makes this film (I believe Joker is the friend of Doogie Howser, M.D.), and it gets a following online. Warner Bros. hears about it and calls him into their offices and says, "Look, kid, it's a good peice of work, but cease and desist." They talked him up on how good a job he did, and many speculated he might actually get in the running for the director of Batman: Year One (which would later become Batman Begins). Well, after the cease and desist he said, "Screw it, I'll do another." And he made a sequel of sorts, entitle "World's Finest" I think. It's a short somewhat like Batman: Endgame (the actual title of this short), but, in my opinion, it's not nearly as good. Supposedly this has pissed the execs at Warner Bros. off, so they took him off any possible consideration for director of anything Batman, and hired Darren Aronofsky (butchered his name, no doubt) to concieve a script for Batman: Year One with Frank Miller (which you can find online). I think World's Finest is on ifilm, as well, if you're interested. It's okay, but it plays more like a trailer than anything else. Also, I think Warner Bros. has blocked this guy from doing anything else with their licences, but like I said, this news is old and about 30 other things could have happened since then.
