Today aj threw some balls at the pro at 30mph and he said he felt better than ever and thats all they said,oh also he might be back for opening day. :thumbup :)

He expressly instructed Minnerweenie to "Tell everyone I feel great."

Can you say posturing for the off-season negotiations???

A.J is no wimp and I say when he gets his contract straightened out, he could be back for opening day, throwing even faster, maybe at 101!

AJ will be ready at opening day. Even though if he does bad in ST like Velocity is down or something he wont be the opening day starter i garantee you. I wish the best to him and he has to recover fast!

he has new ligaments so it will feel a lot better!!!

Look at Smoltz, before the surgery he was throwing 92, 93 consistently. Look at him now, He is throwing 97, 98 consistently!!! A.J. can do the same :D

Here is the article of AJ!!!

Burnett throws: Words couldn't completely describe A.J. Burnett's emotions Thursday afternoon.

The thrill of throwing never felt better.

Before Thursday's afternoon game, Burnett tossed a baseball for the first time since undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery on April 28.

The hard-throwing right-hander entered Spring Training as the Marlins' ace. But his arm never fully recovered from the tender elbow he experienced last August.

Burnett (0-2, 4.70), made just four starts this season. He threw a total of 23 innings before experiencing a ligament tear in his right elbow.

"I'm kind of emotional," Burnett said. "This was the best day of playing catch. It felt unbelievable. It felt really good. I didn't feel a thing in my arm whatsoever. It's kind of weird to explain."

Burnett had not picked up a baseball since tossing 5 2/3 innings in an April 25 game versus the Cardinals.

Throwing in the outfield grass, Burnett made 25 tosses at 45 feet with pitching coach Wayne Rosenthal. He took a five-minute break and repeated the drill.

In all, he tossed 50 pitches.

Burnett will take Friday off and throw again on Saturday. He is being put on a program to toss three days a week.

The 26-year-old, who went 12-9 last season, visited orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., last Tuesday. In 2 1/2 months, Burnett will be examined again by Andrews.

While the prognosis to return to the Major Leagues was 12-18 months from the surgery date, Burnett has set more optimistic goals.

"My goal is Opening Day," Burnett said. "We'll see. I'm taking baby steps."

Are you kidding me, THere is no chance that he would be able to pitch stronger less than a year after TJ Surgery. Even if you are cleared to play after that it takes years to even get close to your old form if you ever do. See Kerry Wood after his rookie season, he went under and it's just now he is living up to his potential.
