March 18, 200620 yr For those of us who haven't really been following Spring Training too closely, maybe those who have been can put their opinions on who will/should make the 25man roster based on their performances thusfar? Thanks.
March 18, 200620 yr Here is my best guess at what our 25 man roster will look like with our current crop of players: 1. Dontrelle Willis, SP 2. Jason Vargas, SP 3. Brian Moehler, SP 4. Josh Johnson, SP 5. Scott Olsen, SP 6. Ricky Nolasco, RP* 7. Sergio Mitre, RP* 8. Chris Resop, RP 9. Matt Herges, RP 10. Nate Bump, RP 11. Joe Borowski, CL 12. Josh Willingham, C 13. Miguel Olivo, C 14. Mike Jacobs, 1B 15. Dan Uggla, 2B 16. Alfredo Amezaga, 2B/IF 17. Hanley Ramirez, SS 18. Robert Andino, SS 19. Miguel Cabrera, 3B 20. Wes Helms, 3B/UT 21. Lenny Harris, UT 22. Jeremy Hermida, OF 23. Reggie Abercrombie, OF 24. Chris Aguila, OF 25. Eric Reed, OF * I expect Nolasco and Mitre to make some starts and they may have rotation spots by the end of spring training depending on how things turn out.
March 18, 200620 yr CF Gathright SS Hanley RF Hermida 3B Cabrera 1B Jacobs C Willingham LF Aguila 2B Uggla BENCH Helms, Abercrombie, Olivo, Amezaga, Bobby Hill SP Willis, Moehler, Vargas, Mitre, Johnson RP Borowski, Resop, Herges, Ligtenberg, Kensing, Messenger, and Carlyle DL MeGrew Notable Final Cuts AAA - Petit, Nolasco, Bowyer, Reed, Stokes, Treanor, Bump AA - Andino, Tankersly Quick Reasoning -Olsen is pitching in the AL East. I think they are going to do it regardless if it's a good deal or not -Carlyle because I see a random arm making it while Bowyer settles down -They'll pick up some cut 2B/SS type for sure, Mikey Lopez ain't making the team and Andino needs playing time (at 2B) versus bench time because he's got a shot at being a player, unlike Abercrombie (sorry, I don't like him). Andino has definitely had an impressive spring. He's walking, even if it is limited AB. Just a little more contact, and a little less K and he could really breakout. Don't want to overwhelm him.
