The invitation was extended to Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, who is leading the effort to lure the Marlins to San Antonio, and his wife; Mayor Phil Hardberger and his wife; and several county commissioners. "He'll be happy to sit and watch the game with Jeffrey Loria and talk to him about the potential for San Antonio being a home for the Marlins," Hardberger spokesman J. J. Saulino said. Wolff submitted a stadium financing proposal to the Marlins earlier this month. Staff writers Sarah Talalay and Juan C. Rodriguez contributed to this report.
March 27, 200620 yr For the sake of this franchise's own future I hope the fish get whooped 96-1 on opening day. Then maybe the San Antonio people realize they are bidding on what is basically a minor league team and pull their offer off the table.
March 27, 200620 yr this is at least the 3rd time we've heard this. it's actually kind of cute what they're doing to those poor SA officials.

Then maybe the San Antonio people realize they are bidding on what is basically a minor league team and pull their offer off the table. The on field product that they'll be seeing is irrelevant, they know that the payroll would be significantly increased from where it is now if there was a steady income from a stadium.
March 27, 200620 yr if they happen to show/mention this on tv while the game is on ... ugh would be sad
