Posted April 3, 200618 yr Spivey is out, Luna is in BY DERRICK GOOLD and JOE STRAUSS ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 04/02/2006 PHILADELPHIA -- After a spring training that spiraled from worrisome to a bonafide concern, Cardinals second baseman Junior Spivey will not join the club for opening day and a roster move will be made Monday that determines his future with the club. Spivey remained behind in St. Louis on Sunday and had his achy shoulder checked out. General manager Walt Jocketty said Sunday evening the determination was made that Spivey would not need to start the season on the disabled list. That left Jocketty with a move to make. ``I don't think anything will happen before (Monday),'' Jocketty said after the team arrived in Philadelphia. ``We are going to address the roster then. There are people we have to add to the roster. We do have to remove a person, and we have some administering to do for the roster.'' [More in URL] WOOHOO!!! I just wanted my fav players beside Edmonds on the team.. he did much better (that's not saying much) than Junior.. At least Spivey admitted to sucking this spring.. I wish him well and still hope he stays with us but whatever.. 1.3 million down the drain.. We finally messed up.. then again Miles or Luna could turn into a good player for the Cards like Womack and Grudz were, lol.. Anyways, we made a mistake money wise with him but it was a gamble to take and in the end probably wont even matter.. I still think Looper was a mistake too but feel he'll be a OK (nothin good nor special) setup man.. just remind me to survive two heart attacks in a game with him and Izzy.. Anyways, if Spivey accepts the AAA job then I'm fine with it..
April 3, 200618 yr Man I have always liked Junior. I hope he lands a job somewhere. Although I like Luna also. Wasn't he a Rule 5 guy?

April 3, 200618 yr Author Todays Lineups PHILADELPHIA ? The lineups for both teams greeted as we walked into the press box at Citizens Bank Park this morning. Rain is threatening ? 40 percent chance in the area. But otherwise, all things are set for Opening Day, right down to the logo behind home plate. And a left field wall some 11 feet back and made 2 1/2 feet higher by some Plexiglass. Will check back with notes from the pre-game chats ? like news of Junior Spivey?s expected designation for assignment to Class AAA Memphis. Appears Spivey is gonna accept the AAA job.. Wont be surprised if he's up soon after he gets a swing of things..
