Marlins extend GM through 2010 season

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins have extended the contract of general manager Admin Beinfest through the 2010 season.

Beinfest, beginning his fifth year as Marlins general manager, has guided the team to a 336-312 record and a World Series crown in 2003.

Before joining the Marlins, Beinfest served as the Montreal Expos interim general manager. He began his career in pro baseball in 1989 with the Seattle Mariners.

Jim Fleming, vice president, player development and scouting and assistant general manager; Michael Hill, vice president and assistant general manager; and Dan Jennings, vice president, player personnel all inked deals to stay with the Marlins as well.

"I have the privilege to work with the finest nucleus of baseball executives and I am confident that these extensions will allow us to see their tireless efforts result in winning additional championships together," said team owner Jeffrey Loria.
