Posted April 17, 200619 yr i havent done anything to my car but ive noticed that the mileage i get out of my gas tank getting higher. im happy about it but i keep wondering how did that happen. i couldnt get pass 224-227 miles before the light would turn on but today i took it to 236 before i decided to stop and get gas.
April 17, 200619 yr Depends on the miles you do. In general, cars get better gas mileage on the highway so if you do alot of highway miles (more than usual), then you should get better use of your gas for that tank.
April 17, 200619 yr Yeah driving on the highway will save gas...Its all the starting and stoping of city driving that wastes gas
April 17, 200619 yr well ive been driving on the highway a lot for the last few months, everyday to school, work and internship but i only started noticing this pattern in the last couple of weeks. i have noticed traffic has been smoother lately so maybe thats why as well? less stop and go on the highway?
April 17, 200619 yr Highway driving is probaly the best anwser but i think it could also be:your driving style/habits are changing (accelerating too fast, more coasting) or that maybe the gas you bought was of better quality. i know that i get about 10-15 miles extra when i buy shell gas.
July 5, 200618 yr How many miles are on your car? I was getting like 14mpg the first few weeks I had my car, but once I broke in the engine and got past 1,000-1,500 miles I was getting about 22mpg.
July 5, 200618 yr Yeah smoother traffic on the highway is great for fuel mileage. It enables you to stay in cruise control (or manually cruising) without having to slow down and tap the gas when you hit those packs of cars.
