The NY Times today reported that Chinese officials were outraged over the White House accrediting a reporter who screamed at Mr. Hu from the stands, and mistakenly referring to China by the name of its archrival Taiwan. Adding insult to injury, here?s a picture of Vice President Dick Cheney sleeping during Mr. Hu?s press conference.

Because of course it isn't possible that he closed his eyes for any reason other than sleeping. Yawning, sneezing, headache...

you are proposing reporters waited for the perfect second to snap a picture. i think you should go buy yourself reynolds wrap. when a guy is sitting there a while sleeping i think someone would notice it eventually. sorry you cant believe the vp sleeps on the job.

He needs to know this stuff to make decisions? First of all, I guess by "this stuff" that he needs to know, you mean what went on at the news conferences was Premier Hu. Well, Hu agreed to cut the trade surplus and to further Chinese-US relations. The meetings were between President Bush and Premier Hu and Cheney was not involved. This was at a news conference where the presidents announced what they had agreed upon. Oh, what important decisions Cheney must make based on that news conference. By the way, the Vice President rarely "makes decisions that affect Americans." His main job is as president of the Senate (casting a tie-breaking vote). He has some policy input and attends some meetings. Oh, and he's Chairman of the Board of NASA.

 

IF he was in fact napping, Jesus, he sure did miss a lot, and it's going to impact the way he does his job. :plain

like i said i am sorry the fact the vp takes naps during press conferences upsets you. you can go and let the rest of us laugh about it. maybe you need a nap.
